Jade Brown-Russell is the founder of Maroon Inc., Maroon Workspace, LLC, and JD Russell Consulting, LLC, with more than 25 years of experience spanning legal counsel, equity strategy, policy development, and complex project management. Her work sits at the intersection of law, public policy, and economic development—designing solutions that are not only effective, but sustainable and equitable.

Jade has advised public agencies, private companies, and nonprofit organizations across the country on strategic planning, regulatory compliance, diversity, equity and inclusion, and governmental relations. Her clients include the Greater New Orleans Foundation, City of New Orleans, Loyola University New Orleans, New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, Port of New Orleans, Caesars Entertainment, Oxfam America, City of Chattanooga, City of Pittsburgh, and the Parish of East Baton Rouge, among others. She also serves as outside general counsel to the Finance Authority of New Orleans and Crescent City Community Land Trust.

In addition to her institutional work, Jade is expanding JD Russell Consulting’s practice to include accessible estate planning and generational wealth services, focused on working- and middle-income families, small business owners, and historically underserved communities. Recognizing that estate planning is often misunderstood or viewed as inaccessible, she is building a model that combines clear legal guidance, flat-fee services, and community-based engagement to help individuals protect their assets and create pathways for long-term wealth.

Jade’s philosophy is rooted in building equitable ecosystems through a multi-strategy approach—dismantling systemic barriers, strengthening institutions, and increasing access to economic opportunity. Through her own entrepreneurial journey, she recognized a persistent gap: Black Americans have not had equal access to the tools that preserve and transfer wealth. Her work seeks to close that gap by equipping individuals, families, and communities with the legal and structural tools to build and sustain generational wealth.

Jade is a graduate of Howard University and Southern University Law Center. She is also a proud mother of two, Jadon Gabriella and Dorsett James, whose futures continue to shape her commitment to legacy, ownership, and impact.
